Fogaraschen Alpen

Jetzt keine deutsche version, nur english und polnisch. Fagaras Mountains are the highest in Southern Carpatian (also called Transilvanian Alps). The hishest peak of Fagaras is called Moldeavanu (2544 meters above sea level), which is also the highest peak in Romania. Along nearly all of Fagaras peaks goes red route for turists. Few kilometres from Moldeavanu the route crosses 'Transfagaras road', which goes up to more than 2000 meters above sea level (where it goes into a few-kilometer tunnel). This the second (after Transalpina) highest located road in Romania. It was built in 70s by Causescu regime (there is a Causescu's house near upper part of road in the neighbourhood of Balea lake, nowadays used as a hotel). Firstly, the road was planned to use by military forces, so that is why there are so many curves in order to minimaze steepness (frankly it is nonsense, because very near there is a natural way). While building this road, tons of explosives were used. Along road from nothern site there is a cable car (probably built in order to reach Causescu house in winter).
